A koozie is a fabric or foam device that is designed to keep a beverage can or bottle cold. Our ultra rugged fire hose koozies are constructed of rubber and heavy duty nylon that's built to last.
Raw Materials Rugged Fire Hose Construction
Hoozies are cut from modern fire hoses use a synthetic fiber like polyester or nylon filament. The synthetic fibers provide additional strength and better resistance to abrasion. The fiber yarns may be dyed various colors or may be left natural.
Coatings and liners include synthetic rubbers such as styrene butadiene, ethylene propylene, chloroprene, polyurethane, and nitrile butadiene. These compounds provide various degrees of resistance to chemicals, temperature, ozone, ultraviolet (UV) radiation, mold, mildew, and abrasion. Different coatings and liners are chosen for specific applications.
The Beer Koozie The History of the Koozie
The beer koozie, cozy[1], coosie[2], hugger, or huggie, is a misnomer since it is not always used for an alcoholic beverage. Other names are can cooler, "beer sleeve", stubby holder. It began as a marketing tool. The primary use of a beer koozie is to keep one's hand warm while keeping the beer cold. Many different companies have used the koozie as a promotional giveaway because it is not only inexpensive to manufacture, but its frequent use is more likely to bring the company's name to a household presence. Originally this logo or image was screen-printed on a round foam cylinder with a foam base (generally a hole is provided in the base to alleviate creation of a vacuum). Mr Shane Walsh has been acknowledged as the original inventor. A koozie can be made from many materials like neoprene, polyester, open cell foam and now thanks to our boss Will, fire hose.
